This recipe hails straight from the pages of the next Protein Pow cookbook!!!! I’ve been going nuts these days drawing my cartoons for the book and testing and re-testing all the recipes inside it. Today I figured hey, why don’t I shoot a little video of this beast.
The official release date for the book is December 5th but the book is available for pre-0rder on amazon and Barnes and Noble already! The recipes in there are so good – and so easy! I can’t wait for you guys to get the book, and eat everything inside it! It’s a proper game-changer, a crazy book, fwaaaaa…
Anyways, the eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that this website has over 1,000 recipes but few, if any, mug cakes. The reason is simple: I’ve saved all my mug cakes for the book. Yup! There’s an entire chapter in the cookbook dedicated to mug cakes of all kinds. Every mug cake features under 10 simple ingredients and takes 1 to 1.5 minutes to make. Ah! I’m excited!!!!
Here’s a taster from the mug cake chapter of the book:
1/4 cup whey protein powder (I used our Protein Pow one because it’s awesome!)
1/4 cup of milk (I used almond milk but any would do)
2 tbsp cocoa powder)
1 tbsp sweetener (I used erythritol but granulated stevia would work, as would coconut sugar if you don’t mind this not being a low-carb cake)
2 tbsps peanut butter
1 tsp stevia drops
1 tsp coconut oil, melted
1. Mix everything in a mug.
2. Microwave for 30 seconds. Wait 5 seconds. And microwave for 30 more.
3. Enjoy! It’s amazing with vanilla protein ice cream on top!
Macros per mug cake: 385kcals, 34g protein, 14g carbs (out of which 4g is fiber!), 25g fat.
Note: Most of the calories (and fat) here come from the peanut butter! If you want a lower-fat version, feel free to sub with mushed-up bananas, mushed up sweet potato, or a combo of both.
