Toblerone-Style Protein Bars (Gluten-Free & Vegan)
I walked into a toy shop the other day to find a baby football. You know, a little soft one for the baby to practice her kicking skills in preparation for when she’s old enough to actually kick the ball around? Yeah. Well, I didn’t find one. All I found were soft balls that didn’t roll (they were more like stuffed-balls?) and balls the size of a baby’s head (so way too big).
It was an unsuccessful baby football buying mission. HOWEVER, you know what I found totally randomly!? A candy bar making kit!!!! I grabbed it and was smiling ear to ear as I was paying (the guy behind the counter was like oh… kay…).
I just found it online too, it’s this one. What is it? It’s a kit to make candy bars so it contains a bunch of molds and a little silicone chocolate making device (note: I was REALLY excited about this device but I ended up hating it because my melted chocolate kept getting stuck in there and I’d press it and BAM! chocolate everywhere; a bain marie is far easier).
One of the molds in there is a Toblerone-style mold which I am absolutely ADORING to make Protein Pow bars with! Because the bars you end up with end up being sharable. Or ‘tear-appartable’ if you know what I mean? And the feel is superb! Because you have thick bits (the center of the ‘hills’) and then thin bits of bar (the ‘meadows’ or ‘valleys’, hehehe).
Anyways, the molds aren’t totally necessary obviously but they make homemade protein bar making a lot of fun! The kit also has a couple of other molds that are fun though, quite frankly, I like the toblerone-style one the best (the others are kind of beeeh…). I reckon the kit is a good present to give out too? Especially if you stick one of my Protein Pow (protein bar-making) mixes in there! I’d love you for it.
Anyhoo, here’s the recipe. It’s the one in the back of our vegan pea mix!
