A Passionate Dark Chocolate Protein Cake

A Passionate Dark Chocolate Protein Cake

This protein cake was laced with Passion. Fruit. Passionfruit with rich, dark, and gorgeous -> Chocolate. Oh, Lawdy! The pictures don’t do the beauty that was this cake justice. It tasted like chocolate heaven on a cloudplate. I took a bite and almost collapsed in rapture. See, Passionfruit + Chocolate? HOW IS IT POSSIBLE for something to taste SO GOOD!? I mean, Zeus! so much pleasure within the confines of a plate! *sigh* *sigh* *sigh* !

Ingredients:

For the cake:
1/2 cup liquid egg whites
3/8 cup cooked aduki beans (could sub with canned black beans, just make sure they’re unsalted ;-))
1/2 cup chocolate hemp protein powder
2 tablespoons 100% cocoa powder
3 tablespoons hulled hemp seeds
1 body passionfruit
1 tablespoon chocolate brown rice protein powder
1 cup coconut milk
1 teaspoon baking soda

For the filling:
1/4 unflavored casein
Water
Vanilla extract
Stevia

For the top:
1/2 cup vanilla casein
1 more passionfruit
1 cup coconut milk.

Directions:

1. Blend ingredients for cake together and bak for ~25 minutes at 160 C (325 F).

2. Blend together filling ingredients with enough water to make it set.

3. Blend together top ingredients.

4. Piece together and enjoy!

Macros per Serving (out of 4):

235kcals
27g protein
17g carbohydrates (3.5g sugars/7g fiber)
6g fat (1.8g sat)

Notes:

To bring down the kcals and fats, you could always leave out the hulled hemp seeds.

When this came out of the oven, I let it cool and walked my person over to the gym. After I finished my Ka-POW!ing there, I came home and sliced the cake in half (vertically, straight down the middle). Now, what this meant is that, once I placed one half on top of the other, what I ended up with was a half-moon shaped cake. I did it this way because, at the end, my cake turned out a bit flat and, since I wanted to end up with fat chunks of cake, it was either this or a thin cake and who wants a thin cake?

Oh this cake was glorious. See, baking with beans is magical. It makes cakes (particularly the chocolate kind) turn out super dense and moist and, when used with just powders, it gives them a wonderful consistency – kind of like flourless chocolate cakes: full of a kind of melt-in-your mouth sense of waaaa, hey… Zeus!

PS – Do you like the cherry on top? It’s optional, hehe, I just threw it on there ‘for decoration’ purposes 😉
