Growing up, no one ever told me that I shouldn’t play with my food. Why shouldn’t one play with one’s food if, at the end, it will be more exciting to eat it? This recipe right here, well… it’s an example of why playing with your food should be encouraged ;-) It all started with a bunch of protein brownies. They turned out really nicely-textured and the batter was delicious but, when they were out, I felt they looked a bit unexciting, just like regular brown brownies. I wanted to add a something to them. Protein fluff? Nah.. Protein ice cream? Nah… Casein? Casein? Casein. Chocolate casein! This is what I did:
1/8 cup cocoa
1 tablespoon hemp seeds (optional)
1/2 cup egg whites
1/2 cup cooked adzuki beans (could use cooked black beans instead, no problem)
1/4 cup pea protein
1. Blend all ingredients and bake for about 35 minutes at 150 celsius.
2. Slice brownies into rectangular building blocks and build a tower by layering them with casein and water.
3. Then, bulldoze the tower with your fork and individually transform each floor into a sandwich.
Macros per Serving (out of 8):
12g protein5.8g carbos (1.2g sugar/2.3g fiber)
To then kick it up even further, I added some almond butter to the individual sandwiches and… *gulp*… son of Cronus… ufff… AAA!!! A serious: 5/5. What a ridiculously unbelievably delicious way to break the fast…. For the ‘filling’/’topping’/’frosting’ I just used one heaping scoop of chococasein miked with water. C’est tout. The above yielded 8 brownies which I then took apart and mixed with the casein etc etc. I must add too that they go with almond butter like milk goes with cookies, mmmm!!!
