Dark Chocolate Protein Bars

These protein bars will introduce you into a world of possibility – a world of magic and protein goodness that’ll make you ignore and altogether forget ready-made protein bars. You’ll never want to buy one. You won’t even consider them! You’ll walk past them as if they weren’t even there. You see, homemade protein bars are 1. fresher, 2. they use no pointless ingredients, 3. they’re tastier, 4. they’re far cheaper in the long run. So make yourself at home in your kitchen, round up your ingredients, whip up some of these bars, and enjoy!

1/2 cup ground oats (GF or regular)
1/4 cup chocolate whey protein powder (I used this one!)
1/2 cup milk (cow’s or almond)
1/8 cup coconut flour
1/8 cup cocoa
1/2 dark chocolate bar (50g)

Directions

Mix all ingredients together (except for the dark chocolate) using a handheld blender, a mixer or just a spoon. Mix everything until a soft ‘dough’ or compact batter is former. Then, mold the batter into small rectangles (or roll them into balls to make protein truffles) with your hands. If your batter is too wet or sticky, add a tiny bit more coconut flour to it. If it’s too dry, add
a bit more milk until the desired consistency is reached. Once all
your mix is shaped, melt your dark chocolate in a bain marie, i.e. a glass bowl on top of a pot of boiling water. Dunk then your protein bars or truffles into the melted chocolate and, once fully coated, transfer them to the fridge or freezer until they set.

Macros

Per bar (if you shape the mix into three small bars like I did): 260.3kcals, 15g protein, 18.73g carbs, 15g fat (7.9g saturated) and 7.1g fiber.
